Programs

The Longview Library Foundation supports the library in many ways.

  • The Koth Memorial Gallery was created with a designated gift from the Koth family as a memorial to their uncle, Wesley Koth.
  • The Summer Reading Program and other children's activities receive Foundation support on an annual basis.
  • Grand Finale picnic at the 2011 Summer Reading Program
  • The Foundation provides funds for special library materials, and coordinates special collections in honor of, or in memory of donors.

The Foundation has also provided support to:

  • The library's nationally acclaimed Adult Literacy Program, Project Read
  • Project Read
  • Northwest Voices, a program bringing regional writers to the community for readings and workshops
  • The library's Teen Center

Foundation Funds are derived from special gifts to the library by supporters and friends. These funds are maintained separate from government funds which provide the operating expenses and staffing for the library. Foundation funds may not be used as a substitute for government funding without the express permission of the Foundation Board of Directors and then only in very special circumstances.

Foundation donors may explicitly direct how they wish funds to be spent, e.g. a special collection, a special program, a special event or in some cases a special service or facility of the library. Some donors designate funds to go to the Foundation to be spent at the Foundation's discretion.

The Foundation welcomes all gifts, large and small.
